SPOILER ALERT
Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder was in Germany this weekend to promote the show, and its executive producer Julie Plec has revealed that Ian and Nina Dobrev's characters Damon and Elen will start a "new relationship".
The Vampire Diaries star was in Neuss, Germany, with co-stars Paul Wesley, Torrey DeVitto, David Anders, and Malese Jow to attend the 2013 BloodyCon event on Monday (June 10). However, it looked like Somerhalder was enjoying the single life and enjoyed all the female attention he was getting.
The executive producer of the successful supernatural drama Julie Plec has revealed spoilers for the upcoming fifth series.
On Damon's and Elena's relationship, Julie explained that the pair will "try to make it work" by starting a "new relationship", according to TVGuide.com. However, it won't be a walk in the park for the couple as there's a "villain in the midst they don't know is a villain at the beginning."
Not revealing too much about Klaroline and Hayley's complication, Plec said: “Hayley is, by no means, the Cinderella in the Klaus love story. Hayley is a girl who’s pretty tough, fiery, independent … a survivor in her own right who got drunk, had sex and got knocked up.
"She’s not really meant to be a threat to Klaus’ love life.”
Giving an upbeat revelation on the Stefan-Silas fiasco, Julie said: “[There will be] a pretty cool mythology that will carry on in terms of Silas, and the mystery of his past — 1,000 or 2,000 years ago.”
However, Katherine may not be too happy. The creator of the show revealed: "We were just in the room the other day talking about the first time she catches a cold — just how freakin’ p****d she’s going to be about that.”
Julie couldn't contain her excitement on the return of Jeremy Gilbet. She exclaimed: “What the hell cover story is that going to be? How’s he going to explain that? He had a memorial service! There were flyers!”
They're just a few spoilers for the new season of The Vampire Diaries and fans must be really excited, but the question remains, how will Ian and Nina's professional relationship develop during film?
