Nina Dobrev Prefers 'True Detective' Over 'The Vampires Diaries?'; Refuses To Return To Season 7 As Elena

Nina Dobrev has turned down offers from The CW executives to return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 7. Ian Somerhalder's ex-girlfriend would allegedly settle for a recurring role in "True Detective" and "Empire" rather than reprise her role as Elena

According to Movie News Guide, Dobrev clarified that her decision to leave "TVD" had nothing to do with his past relationship with Somerhalder. The actress claimed that she wanted to take the time to concentrate on her movie career.
The publication, however, noted that Dobrev has not been offered a part in any movie since then. Although the actress realized that landing a role was much harder than she expected, insiders claim that Dobrev would rather score a small part in a TV series than work with Somerhalder.
The outlet noted that although Dobrev and Somerhalder were still in good terms, the former was still uncomfortable working with her former beau because of Nikki Reed. It was said that the "Twilight" star is still jealous of Dobrev and ordered her husband to stay away.
Meanwhile, according to Carter Matt, it may be too early to tell if Dobrev will fit well with the cast of "True Detective." It was pointed out that HBO has not even confirmed that there will be a season 3 for the crime drama.
Without a concrete storyline, the outlet claimed that it was difficult to envision Dobrev being part of the series. The show executives, however, would reportedly open the actress with open arms given her huge fan base.
