The Vampire Diaries spoilers: Stefan & Elena heating up on Resident Evil?

‘Resident Evil’ APRIL 17TH

Is anyone else feeling the distinct lack of mystic-goodness this week? Don’t you fret! We have some spoilers to tide you over until our next visit to Mystic Falls. Here are six things to look forward to when The Vampire Diaries returns on April 17th with ‘Resident Evil’
BE WARNED: SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT DO NOT CROSS IF YOU WISH TO REMAIN UNSPOILED.

Stelena.
Let’s be real, Delena have been on the rocks for a little while now, and after Katherine’s pursuit of Stefan it was only a matter of time before this couple made their triumphant return. At PaleyFest Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan, teased the “nostalgic” return of the pair, calling the scenes “reminiscent of season one”. Don’t get too excited yet Stelena shippers – it’s not reality. Stefan and Elena are having unsettling dreams of an alternate version of the life they might have had together; think happy home, lots of kids and lots of sex. Why? We are not yet sure, but one of the main theories suggests this is the result of Traveller magic. Guess we will have to wait and see.
The new resident evil.
That’s right, there’s a new big bad in town and his name is Markos. The Travellers have mentioned Markos so far as their leader, and the end of last week’s episode ‘Rescue Me’ saw his arrival in Mystic Falls. Next time we will see Luke revealing all he knows about the warlock to Damon, Elena and Enzo, before Damon faces him and is “both relieved and disturbed” by what Markos has to say. Markos seems to be an intriguing one, with Paul Wesley describing him as an “atypical villain”, and I can’t wait to meet him!
Problems on the Other Side.
There’s trouble brewing, and Bonnie’s Grams makes a guest return to warn her about it. No one is as aware of it as poor Matty-blue-eyes however, who has a terrifying encounter with the inhabitants of the Other Side. Also this week, Matt, Jeremy and Tyler are teaming up with Liv against the Travellers, which may be how Matt ends up facing dead supernatural beings.
Enzo has a purpose.
None of us were really buying ‘I want my killing buddy back’ as Enzo’s sole reason for sticking around and helping out in Mystic Falls, and we are about to find out why he’s really here! Like a true romantic, Enzo is searching for a woman he loved decades before while the Augustines imprisoned him. He has briefly mentioned his love interest, Maggie, before, but it looks like his search is about to really get going.
Trouble in paradise.
Will any relationship ever last on this show? Bonnie is getting increasingly upset by Jeremy this week, especially when she finds out he is working with Liv behind her back. Ouch.
Paul Wesley’s directorial debut.
Stefan headed behind to ‘the other side’ of the camera for the upcoming episode (see what I did there), and took his place in the director’s chair. Wesley himself called the experience “amazing”, so it’s definitely something not to be missed by The Vampire Diaries’ fans!
Looks like a packed episode – make sure you don’t miss The Vampire Diaries when it returns to the CW on Thursday April 17th!
