Series creator and executive producer Julie Plec teased in a TV Line
interview during the Television Critics Association, or TCA, summer
press tour that there will be a fun curveball to be thrown at the new
“TVD” couple. Considering Damon’s declaration at the end of season six,
it’s perhaps too soon to expect him to be able to move on to another
woman.
At the end of season 6, Caroline (Candice Accola) was only focussing on moving on from Stefan (Paul Wesley), despite the fact that he wanted to have a relationship with her. Damon’s wild spirit and having to keep himself tame to wait for the girl – which of course that [wild spirit] is the Damon we met in season one – he was waiting for the girl.
And this is going to be a major problem for Damon, Stefan, Caroline (seen above, crying and surrounded by dead bodies) and company.
The Vampire Diaries Video: Stefan still gives Caroline butterflies!
Speaking of murder, Enstarz shared that “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 might feature Damon butting heads with the heretic family of his mother, Lily. Plec revealed in an earlier interview that the brothers are also torn as to whether they would be mending their relationship with their mother or if they need to take her down. “Lily has naturally entered as the third point in the triangle”.
This season, the Salvatore brothers will have the chance to work on their relationship.
“Bonnie has sort of taken it upon herself to be the uninvited chaperone, which is amusing because she and Damon have so much unspoken between them – the guilt, the resentments, the gratitude, there’s a list of things they’re dealing with”. The two brothers have always had something in between them that made it hard for them to be brothers. She can kind of manipulate them differently. She was trying to basically turn them against each other, but they’re like, ‘You know what?
And Lily’s complications don’t extend to just her sons.
However, judging from all the bodies around them, it looks like Caroline is lucky to be alive.
“It’s not yet a woman yet, but it’s a little bit surprising”.
Though Lily and her heretics have a huge amount of unmined backstory, the show won’t use flashbacks more than usual. ‘We’re picking up a little bit in the future, we’re picking up a lot in the future, we’re doing a little bit of a time shuffle as we launch into the season.
“The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 will premiere on Thursday night, October 8, at 8/7c on the CW Network.
