The residents of Mystic Falls — both fanged & un-fanged — are ready to pick up where they left off.
It’s really happening: July 10 marks the first official production day for The Vampire Diaries, and naturally, the cast and crew is all atwitter! Executive producer Julie Plec, who isn’t currently down in Georgia with the rest of the TVD family, got the ball rolling with the first tweet in the wee hours of the morning.“The day has arrived: it’s TVDS5 day,” Julie tweeted. “First day of shooting — mad love to all my Atlanta folk. See you guys in a few days.”
Prolific tweeter Ian Somerhalder chimed in with his own thoughts on filming, as well as a little weather update.
“1st day of shooting season 5 of The Vampire Diaries- break a leg today everyone!” he tweeted. “It’s HOT, no doubt welcome home to Mystic Falls people!”
Meanwhile, Steven R. McQueen proved himself to be an epic multi-tasker. Though he spent most of his day rallying his fans to get him a Teen Choice Award, he also managed to squeeze in plenty of screen time.
“Got to go film now!” he tweeted in the afternoon. “Keep voting! Be back on in a little!”
