"The Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder is reportedly being
considered for the role of Jack Hyde in "Fifty Shades Darker", the
sequel to "Fifty Shades of Grey".
The actor hasn't commented on this latest casting rumour yet, but according to a new Celeb Dirty Laundry report, his wife Nikki Reed is keen to have Somerhalder cast in the movie. Reed wants Somerhalder to move on from "The Vampire Diaries" and cut off any ties with Nina Dobrev, his ex girlfriend who was also his co-star and on-screen love interest in the vampire drama, the report noted.
Dobrev and Somerhalder dated for about three years before calling it quits in mid 2013.
"Nikki won't forget that fact, and wants to distance her husband from TVD and the stigma of Dobrev. Until Ian moves on, Reed knows Somerhalder will always be seen as 'Nina Dobrev's ex' and not 'Nikki Reed's husband' in the public eye," the gossip website said.
If this casting rumour turns out to be true, then Somerhalder will be seen in "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" where he will play the role of Jack Hyde.
In the books by E.L. James, which is the inspiration for the "Fifty Shades" movie series, Jack Hyde is a former Commissioning Editor at Seattle Independent Publishing (SIP) where Ana Steele works.
Interestingly, another actor who was rumoured to be considered for the role was "Batman V Superman" star Henry Cavill.
"Basically what I can say is I can't say anything about it right now," Cavill said, when talking to E!News about a possible role in "Fifty Shades Darker."
However, he later clarified that he was just messing with fans. "I'm not in 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' I'm for real. I'm just messing with everyone," he said, according to Mirror. "The first time around, everyone was asking, 'Are you Christian Grey?' I went 'No!' But no one believed him.
"This time around, everyone is now still convinced I'm part of the series. Now the question is, 'Are you going to be in 'Fifty Shades Darker. ' And I thought, I'm going to try a different tact this time. See what they say. And so I tried a different tact."
