Following Dobrev's exit from the show, fans of "TVD" are wondering whether or not Damon will find a new love interest in the upcoming installment.
"The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Caroline Dries recently spoke with TV Guide about the character's future and said that Damon will resort to alcohol, but he's definitely not ready to hook up with other women.
"He is not ready to hook up; let's be clear about that! He's drinking and having a wild time, but he is widely affected by the loss of Elena. He's never going to not be about Elena, so this first chapter is life after Elena. He's trying to struggle with, 'How do I do right by Elena and still be mysef?'" she said.
Meanwhile, Dries also revealed that Elena will still be part of the upcoming episodes of the hit The CW series.
Although the actress will no longer return to the series, Dries said that they have a way of still including her in relevant storylines.
In other news, the seventh season of "The Vampire Diaries" will focus primarily on Damon and Stefan's (Paul Wesley) relationship as brothers.
During an interview with PopSugar, Wesley said that someone will be running after Stefan and Damon and they don't have any idea what it is.
Additionally, the Salvatores' mom, Lily (Annie Wersching), will take over the Heretics in the upcoming season. This would certainly have an impact on her relationship with the brothers.
Executive producer Julie Plec spilled details about Lily to Seat42f and said, "They have to sit and watch as she and these kids take over their hometown, move into their house and really live their lives in plain sight of these heroes."
"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
