'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Spoilers: Damon To Count Down The Return Of Elena With Bourbon

Since Nina Dobrev announced that she would no longer be a series regular on "The Vampire Diaries," many fans have been wondering how the remaining cast would react without her.

Lucky for Damon fans, his reaction is going to be him merely returning to his pervious behavior.
Recently, several new spoilers about "The Vampire Diaries" season seven were revealed. Specifically, Executive Producer Julie Plec revealed that Damon (played by actor Ian Somerhalder) would be coping with Elena's loss by doing what he knows best: drinking bourbon.
Earlier this month, TV Line spoke with Plec about "The Vampire Diaries" season seven. Specifically, she explained that Damon will be spending a lot of time trying to cope with the absence of Elena. That is to say, he'd be drinking a lot.
"Well, drinking, as always. And now he has Alaric back on the bourbon wagon, because he's also been dealt the s-t end of life," said Plec.
In addition to drinking, Plec explained that Damon would have a lot do deal with regarding his friendship with Bonnie.
"Bonnie has sort of taken it upon herself to be the uninvited chaperone, which is funny because she and Damon have so much unspoken between them - the guilt, the resentments, the gratitude, there's a list of things they're dealing with. Watching them air it out together is actually really nice," explained Plec.
Unfortunately for bonnie and damon shippers, their relationship has been confirmed to be purely platonic for the new season. Considering Damon's declaration at the end of season six, it's perhaps too soon to expect him to be able to move on to another woman.
Aside from Damon's adventures in coping, TV Line also spoke to Plec about many other things to expect in the new season, including the budding relationship between Caroline and Stefan. Fans can read the full interview here.
"The Vampire Diaries" season seven will premiere on Oct. 8.
