When we talked with Ian Somerhalder and the rest of The Vampire Diaries
cast at Comic-Con back in July, they previewed how the series was
returning to its darker, sexier roots in Season 7, the show’s first
without Nina Dobrev’s Elena. And now, we have a better idea of what this
return to the show’s earlier days will look like, thanks to TVGuide.com, which exclusively released the first all-new photos from The Vampire Diaries‘ upcoming seventh season premiere, “Day One of Twenty-Two Thousand, Give or Take.”
In the photos below, it’s clear just how much chaos Damon and Stefan’s mother, Lily (Annie Wersching), and her heretic family (including Scarlett Byrne and Teressa Liane as same-sex couple Nora and Mary Louise) will be causing at the start of this season. However, while it appears that Caroline and Stefan are trying to prevent the heretics from destroying Mystic Falls, Damon isn’t anywhere around to help; instead, he’s off getting drunk by himself, at least until Bonnie shows up to hopefully bring him back to his (sober) senses. And although it’s not yet known whether something romantic will happen between Damon and Bonnie in The Vampire Diaries Season 7, one thing is certain: in order to defeat the heretics, the two of them will have to keep the strong friendship they have in tact and work together.
