The Vampire Diaries is
fond of its car crashes, and they tend to have devastating consequences
— especially when it comes to the Gilbert family. It was a car crash
that killed Elena’s parents, that killed Elena herself, and that almost killed Jeremy earlier this season. So what is this we hear of another car crash on the TVD horizon?
According to Cov News, the TVD production will soon be staging a car crash scene on the streets of Covington, Georgia (aka the fictional Mystic Falls). There will also be a scene set on the Covington square (aka Mystic Falls town square). Yikes! As glad as we are to spend more time in Mystic Falls, it does tend to lead to death and destruction — in this case, some sort of car crash. We’ll have to wait to find out just how serious this accident is, and who is involved, but we’re raising the Mystic Falls Threat Level to orange.
Is it wrong that, even though it seems the scenario will be dire, we’re glad to hear that we’ll be spending more time in Mystic Falls? The town used to be such a large part of TVD, the locale was almost another character, and we miss hanging with the historically supernatural town. These days, it’s all Salvatore mansion or Whitmore College campus. Don’t get us wrong — we love the Salvatore mansion fireplace (and bedrooms) as much as the next fan — but we miss going to town-wide parties with paper lanterns and mysterious murders. Maybe it’s just us?
