Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder to make their relationship work in The Vampire Diaries season five

While many fans around the world were devastated to learn that The Vampire Diaries lovebirds, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev had decided to bring their relationship to an end, there is still some good news left for the couple in the upcoming season of The Vampire Diaries.
The Vampire Diaries creator Julie Plec has teased a few spoilers for the upcoming The Vampire Diaries season five, including the fact that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) are going to try to make their relationship work.

Julie told TV Guide that the couple with "try to make it work" by beginning a "new relationship" together. Unfortunately though, everything does not run smoothly, as there is a "villain in the midst they don't know is a villain at the beginning."

It will be interesting to see how Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder's public break up affects their on-screen chemistry, or if the two rediscover their love for one another, while filming The Vampire Diaries season five. We will just have to wait and see.

The Vampire Diaries season five premieres on The CW in October, while its spin-off show The Originals will premiere its debut season, also in October.
