Did Ian Somerhalder And Nina Dobrev Break Up Over Marriage?

Our heads are still spinning after hearing the news that Vampire Diaries co-stars and all-around adorable couple Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev had called it quits after several years of dating. But now our hearts are breaking all over again, because we’re hearing a new reason for the break up: Ian wanted to marry Nina, and she wasn’t ready! Awww!
“Ian was starting to talk marriage while Nina’s just getting started on her career,” an insider reportedly told In Touch Weekly. “Nina still loves him but isn’t ready to make that huge commitment. She’s just too young for Ian.”
True, there was quite an age gap between 24-year-old Nina and 34-year-old Ian, but they always seemed to be on the same page. They had cats together, for god’s sake! But even so, another source told Us Weekly, Nina, “felt it was too early to take things to the next level,” which was apparently what Ian wanted. Poor guy.  
We totally get it. Nina is a bit young to be getting hitched, but we have to wonder if that was the real reason behind the split. After all, where’s the fire? These two could have stayed together for years before actually tying the knot, if that’s the direction they were headed.
We’d totally be lying if we said our fingers weren’t still crossed for these two to rekindle their romance, but hey, at least they’re still friends right? We’ll take it. Le sigh.
